Jen is a girl who lives in a small village at the north end of the Kei Besar Island, Southeast Maluku. With no electricity, Jen faces many challenges to achieve her dreams. Jane was in Grade 5 when she wrote this story in 2016.  She was attending SDK Ad, in the northwest of Kei Besar, Southeast Moluccas. With the dream of becoming a doctor, Jane does her homework and studies hard every day by torchlight.

Grandpa Yopi is enjoying his retirement in the village of Ad after serving as a teacher and principal at various schools on the islands of Maluku.  He’s always available to help and encourage Jane with her schoolwork. Grandpa Yopi (Jaconias Torlain) loves to paint with various media: paper, canvas, and walls. Aside from teaching and painting, he also form a group of  flute music players in his village.
