Teacher Englezie is not only a teacher for a group of student at SMPN 4 Ad, North Kei Besar Island. She is a mentor figure, a big sister, and a friend to share when they are in troubles. She is a role model and a living example for them.
Amidst limitations, with her creativity, she turned an unused classroom into a dormitory for students in need. These students have to walk 4-5 hours back and forth from home to school. She did it with her personal resources, and without waiting for someone to help her out. Moreover, she created a vegetable garden so the students had something to eat with enough nutrient intake.
Ms. Engle’s “dormitory” is far from luxurious. Without electricity, no running water, and decent mattresses. But the room full with laughter and tears shared together. They had meals together even though the main menu were only vegetables and cassava.
From that modest room, the student learned about having hope. That there is still a bright future if we always try. Limitations can be overcomed with creativity and solidarity. Limited facilities are not obstacles to stop working.
Cerita Anak Pulau supports people like Ms. Englezie. As much as possible, we take Ms. Engle to meet inspirational people. We take her to see new places, get trainings and support her with what needs. We believe there are many more people like Englezie who are far from publicity, but play important roles for young people in Kei. These are the people we need to support and encourage.

Ibu guru Englezie bukan hanya guru bagi sekelompok anak di SMPN 4 Ad, Kei Besar Utara. Ia adalah sosok kakak, mentor, teman bertumpu, tempat mencurahkan hati. Ia adalah panutan dan contoh hidup.
Dengan kreatifitas ditengah keterbatasan, Ibu Engle menyulap sebuh kelas kosong menjadi asrama bagi murid-murid yang harus berjalan kaki 4-5 jam untuk pergi dan pulang sekolah. Semua dilakukan dengan modal pribadi, tidak menunggu bantuan dari pihak manapun. Tidak hanya itu, ia membuat kebun sayur supaya murid-muridnya punya asupan gizi yang cukup.
Asrama sekolah Ibu Engle jauh dari mewah. Tanpa listrik, tidak ada air bersih mengalir, dan kasur yang layak. Tapi di kamar itu selalu ada tawa, kebersamaan, dan air mata yang ditanggung bersama. Selalu ada makan bersama walaupun menunya hanya sayur dan singkong.
Dari kamar sederhana itu anak-anak di Kei Besar Utara belajar tentang pentingnya untuk punya harapan. Bahwa tetap ada hari depan cerah asal kita mau berusaha. Keterbatasan bisa dikalahkan dengan kreatifitas dan solidaritas. Fasilitas minim bukan halangan untuk terus berkarya.
Cerita Anak Pulau mendukung orang-orang seperti Ibu guru Engle. Sebisa mungkin, kami pertemukan Ibu Engle dengan orang-orang yang inspiratif. Kami bawa untuk melihat tempat yang baru, dan dukung dengan sarana yang ia perlukan. Kami yakin banyak sosok panutan yang jauh dari publikasi, namun mereka berperan penting bagi generasi muda di Kei. Merekalah yang patut kita dukung dan kita beri semangat.
